We want a vintage school map for our living room, so I've been diligently looking on ebay. Mission statement: 60-ish inches wide, pull-down, pre-1950.  I found MY DREAM set, and of course it sold for a gazillion dollars. If anyone sees anything like this at a garage sale, will you buy it for me? Kthx.

Things That I'm Into: Renegade Craft Fair

I've wanted to go to this for a number of years, but this is the first year I actually made it. It was pretty awesome, and I could have spent a gazillion dollars.  

I was on the hunt for some prints for my new office, which currently has four bare walls with only a plant to cheer the place up. Office art is sort of a tricky thing- definitely not what you would put up in your house, but (hopefully) not too boring. I'm also trying to come off as mature and professional at my new job (which, if you know me, can be a stretch) since all the other attorneys are 10+ years older than me. Which meant that I kept having to skip over the hilarious screenprints that involved hot dogs.

Here's what I got:

The Chicago and Illinois screenprints are for my office, the bike one (which looks cooler close up, it has a hilarious story written in the green part) is for our sun room. The tote bag and the t-shirt I just had to get because they were awesome and cheap. I thought the prints were pretty cheap too- all $20 or $10. 

I think the t-shirt is kind of hilarious. 

So true!

Anyway, you should definitely go to the RCF if you have the chance! On the website it says that they have them in Austin, SF, LA, NY and Chicago. 

Things That I'm Into: Free Music

If you are into music and are like, "oh, I wonder what new albums I should buy this summer?" and then you are like "maybe sub pop has some good new albums" and then you are like "omg there are so many how do I choose?" then maybe you should download this from amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Digital-Bang-2010-Sampler-Amazon/dp/B003JFTAPO.

It's free and has 15 songs from 15 different sub pop artists that have/had albums coming out in 2010. 

Samples from some of my personal fav 2010 albums are on there- from beach house "teen dream," avi buffalo "avi buffalo" and caribou "swim." I highly recommend any of those albums, esp beach house, but you can obviously check them out yourself on this free sampler. And I'm definitely buying the Blizten Trapper when it comes out TUESDAY. 

** PS In general Amazon is way sweeter than itunes when it comes to digital music. Usually albums are $5.99 or $7.99, plus they always have 100 $5 albums a month. But maybe that's another post. 

Things That I'm into: Upton's Naturals

We randomly came across this brand at whole foods the other day, and since I am quite the fake meat expert, I decided to try it out. I felt affirmed in this choice when the check out dude at whole foods was raving about it and told us that once we tried it we'd never go back to other types of soy products..

First of all, it's not soy, which is kind of great because I've been reading some scary things about soy lately. Not any scarier than scary stuff about other things I still indulge in (alcohol, dairy, etc.), but scary enough to want to limit my consumption. So yeah- it's seitan- which is a wheat gluten.  High in protein, low in fat, and less processed than most soy.

Second of all, it's local, which is great. Made in Skokie.

Third of all, it's really really delicious. We used the chorizo in a pretty basic "burrito bowl" (seitan + black beans + lettuce + cheddar + salsa + jalapenos) and it was seriously one of the best I've ever had.

Fourth of all, it's cheap. Two packages for five dollars at whole foods right now! I bought both the chorizo AND the italian sausage when I went back the other day.

Fifth of all, look at their mustaches! Love their mustaches.
